Ancient Civilizations, Egypt

Great reference books come along very rarely. That’s why we have magazines like National Geographic, and Scientific American. Up to date information that resonates with authority.
Ever since the discovery of Ancient Egypt, the world has had a fascination with its’ history, art, and physical remains. Travelers of old had long spun tales of the giant lion of the desert, and the towering pyramids that dotted the desert. What about those amazing statues and mysterious ruins? Wood cuts centuries old boast images of the Sphynx, and pyramids.
The study of ancient Egypt has made amazing strides since the discovery of the Rosetta stone in 1799. From that point on, the language of Egypt was now known, but it is only with the advent of computer imaging and advanced exploration tools that a detailed picture of the time period is possible.

To call this merely a book is a misnomer. It not only includes information on the culture from its’ early history, up to the present and our passionate affair with Egypt’s cultural history. Taking a chronological approach to the presentation, readers can follow the ebb and flow of the culture.

The sections of the book are:

Predynastic and Dynastic Egypt
Pyramids, The Old Kingdom
Change and Continuity,
1st/2nd Middle Kingdom Warriors,
The New Kingdom Occupation,
Third Intermediate To Roman Period
The Rediscovery of Ancient Egypt

As a student of history, I love this style of presentation. The illustrations are high quality, whether wood cut, b/w, or color images. Perfectly suitable for schools and university projects, the articles by recognized authorities are authoritatively written.

As a student of history, I value this book. Read it, learn it, and you will understand a great civilization. Pass the knowledge on, lend it out, and you will enable others to gain wisdom from the ages. There is a particularly valuable CD-Rom that comes with the book that is jam packed with information from the book that students can access for projects.

To say this book is a mere $95 cdn, is incorrect. It is an investment in knowledge. It can be found at better book stores or online at www.raincoast.com .

I am,

Ram an Tap Tim.
