THE DEVIL'S BLOODY PLAYTHINGS

Directed By William Hellfire
Starring Zoe Moonshine and Ruby deLarocca

Review by Douglas A. Waltz

The Devil's Bloody Playthings stars Zoe Moonshine as the timid Karen and Ruby plays the part of the dominating Christine. When Karen becomes Christine's roommate she has no idea what she is in for. Christine lives to humiliate, utterly and totally. And she is very good at what she does. Maybe a little too good.
I have always been a fan of William Hellfire. I know what he's trying to do and sometimes he is able to pull that off on the screen. He is in the business of taking fetishes, whether they be strangulation, domination or God knows what and presenting them in the worst possible way. Even people who really like this stuff are made uncomfortable by what Hellfire brings to the screen.
The girls are excellent in their respective parts and it's good to see Ruby in something that I like her in. Usually she comes across as a ditz who I just want to slap. If she's doing that on purpose then, bravo! But, I kind of get the feeling that most of the time she's in a lot of these flicks to pay the bills. With this film she sinks her teeth deep into the part and gives us her best performance of all times. It will be hard to top her role as Christine.
Ms. Moonshine is a lovely lady and very easy on the eyes. She also does a fantastic job with what she is given. You have to wonder though, that since she was married to Hellfire at the time what kind of self serving sick fantasies did he indulge in by putting his wife through her degrading paces in the film. What ever works for you, I guess?
The film exudes low budget sleaze and manages to rise above its meager origins. I'm reminded of 42nd street sleaze more than shot on video crap.
The DVD comes with bloopers and trailers for more of the madness of Bill Hellfire and company and can be purchased directly from his company at www.electricdaisypushers.com.
Be careful though, if you like this kind of stuff Bill is going to take you to the edge and then push you off as you fall screaming into a place you really never wanted to go in the first place, but were unable to look away.
