FLORIDA SUPERCON
THE SOUTH FLORIDA COMIC BOOK, SCI-FI, ANIME & ANIMATION CONVENTION
www.FLORIDASUPERCON.com

Fort Lauderdale, FL - FLORIDA SUPERCON would like to announce the addition of four more guests for the June 22-24, 2007 show, including; Anime voice actor & musician: Chris Patton, Musical Group: PLID, Actor: Michael Winslow and Writer: Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc.

Chris Patton has been acting since early childhood, and voice acting for ADV Films and Funimation for eight years. He has voiced over 100 anime titles and played hundreds of characters. He is also co-front man of an electropop/ebm band called PLID. Patton is most-often associated with his character "Greed" in Fullmetal Alchemist and "Sousuke Sagara" from the Full Metal Panic series, but his more "hardcore" fans tend to associate his voice with "Sasame" from Pretear, "Ayato" from RahXephon, or "Fakir" from Princess Tutu. For many years, Chris was known as the "go-to" voice actor for the "angsty pretty boy" roles, but has since had a chance to branch out into voicing all form of psychotic villains, and in some cases normal guys as well.

PLID is an electro/synth/pop-glam band from Houston, Texas, formed by Chris Patton, Frank Ortiz, and Eric Dano in 2004. In it's inception, PLID's goal was to simply be a studio band, banging out rough and dirty electrosynth beats and soundscapes to make people dance from the comfort of their home studio. They never intended to play live until a major label act found them on MySpace and asked them to open for them in 2006. Since then, PLID has developed a bombastic live show, focused on energizing and tantalizing their audiences, all the while keeping their tight harmonies and addictive hooks intact.

Rounding out these guest additions are Michael Winslow (Star of the Police Academy movies, Gremlins and Spaceballs) plus Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc (Writer of Michael, The Two, Man of Two Worlds, Darkness Decends and more.)

FLORIDA SUPERCON is proud to announce the addition of Comic Book Legend ROY THOMAS as a Guest of Honor for the June 22-24, 2007 show.

Roy Thomas is a comic book writer and editor, and Stan Lee's first successor as editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. Roy has had an amazing career in the comic book world, which started in the early 1960's when he spent a very brief time working for Mort Weisinger at DC Comics in the Superman office before accepting an offer from Stan Lee to jump to Marvel. Roy quickly became an important part of the Marvel Universe... first as a writer and editor, taking over books such as The X-Men, The Avengers and Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, and later as Marvel's Editor in Chief in 1972. Some of his major achievements at Marvel include the creation of Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, The Vision,
Red Sonja, Man-Thing, Union Jack, Morbius: The Living Vampire, The Invaders, Man-Thing, Ultron and dozens more... as well Roy introduced the pulp magazine hero Conan the Barbarian to comics and helped launch a sword and sorcery trend in comics. In the 1980's Roy worked for several years for DC, where he created the sword-and-sorcery series Arak, Son of Thunder and the funny animal comic Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew. He worked on Wonder Woman and revived the Justice Society of America in Justice League of America #193 - which led to the creation of the All-Star Squadron. In addition to the JSA's high-profile heroes, Thomas revived such characters as Liberty Belle, Johnny Quick, the Shining Knight, Robotman, Firebrand, the Tarantula, and Neptune Perkins.

During the 1990s, Thomas began working less for Marvel and DC than for independent companies. He wrote issues of the TV-series tie-ins Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for Topps Comics, and collaborated on an adaptation of Richard Wagner's Ring cycle with Gil Kane. He also began writing more for other media, including television, and relaunched the 1960's fanzine Alter Ego as a formal magazine. As of 2006, he lives in South Carolina, and is co-chairman of the board of directors of the comic-book industry charity The Hero Initiative. He currently write Anthem, a comic book series about World War II superheroes in an alternate reality, which began publication by Heroic Publishing in January 2006. As well, Thomas returned to Red Sonja in 2006, writing the one-shot Red Sonja Monster Island for Dynamite Comics.
