Radio Rambling
By Larry Stanley
Recently here in Modesto, we had some changes made in the radio broadcasting area. KDJK went away. 104 took over 95.1. 104 became “the Arrow”. Their call letters are KROW. If you find arrow out of that I wish you’d let me know. They proclaim themselves to be all classic rock. They said they were going to be playing music from the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s.
So far about all I’ve heard has been pseudo-disco, top 40 hits from the 80’s, and the type of music that I used to listen to in the Dentists office.
This is not rock and roll.
This is what they are trying to tell everyone in their 40’s is supposed to be oldies. Personally I think its a plot to make us believe that we’re too old to rock and roll. And I don’t care if the 70’s were 20 years ago!
Tell that to Mick Jagger, Elton John, and Alice Cooper. If you want classic rock and roll in Modesto, try listening to the Fox (KVFX), 96.7. If you want true oldies, try listening to the Stockton airwaves.
But, for Charlie Daniels, Rolling Stones, The Who, and Aerosmith well, the only place you’ll find it in Modesto, is the Fox.
Music is a personal choice made both by entertainers and listeners. No one can force someone to listen to or buy something they do not like. And just to remind you, on the radio, it is real hard to tell what color someone is.
