Crap. Crap crap crap. I have waited for this film for almost a year, wanting
a really good, spooky monster/demon film. Every time I saw a preview I got more
and more interested and excited.
Telling the story of a massive cave system beneath Romania that is almost bottomless
a scientist calls in a team of professional cave divers to chart the underwater
river that flows through the cave system.
Now, this team includes all the normal members of a stereotypical scientific
movie crew. You have your two brothers who compete against each other, the beautiful
but brilliant woman, the black guy, the macho guy and the clowning but colorful
fun guy that everyone likes.
Guess who dies first? See, these caves are a lot more then they seem at least
according to the ads. Which sucks since the tagline does not fit with this film.
See, they allude that 'beneath the Cave, is Hell'; ok, fine. Then lets see "Hell".
Look, this film is SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Ok, you ready? This thing is nothing more then a modern werewolf story with
a twist. That's all, and it is not even a really well done version.
Almost everything can be seen well before it occurs and if you didn't see this
schlock ending in the first fifteen minutes you need to watch more movies.
Look, you want a good film about an underground monster? Go watch Tremors. Leave
The Cave for the bats and guys in neat cars. This film isn't even good enough
to be called trash.
The characters have no charm and make no attempt to compete with the real star
of the film, a freakin' CAVE, with poor light, almost never fully seen flying
monsters and lots of water they still didn't try to impress you.
Come on Hollywood, can't you do any better then this? Crap, I have seen better
from low budget directors with almost no money for special effects.
I'm sorry I ever looked forward to this junk.
