Issue #2
Responsible Parties Kobayashi, Sumita & Blond
Let me start with I would have given better credit, but had nothing more to
go on than the cover. Let me splain. I get the pages in advance from my
editor and he gets them from
well, Im not sure. Maybe he steals
them from companies and Im just an accessory. Anyway, there was no title
page that gave more details like who wrote what and who drew what and first
names would have been nice. Anyway, Im sure it will all work out in the
end.
That being said, Im not sure who this comic is supposed to appeal to. The original concept of Witchblade always seemed pretty cool. I was never a real fan, but she was very nice to look at. Now, we get what I assume to be is the manga version of our erstwhile heroine.
I like the way the heroines hair works in the panels. What I got was Witchblade handing some big monster looking dudes their asses. The hair looked cool, but the costume seemed a little too skimpy, even for Witchblade. It gave the appearance of keeping her nether parts in permanent camel toe formation. This is cute a s a quick peek a boo, but four times in six pages makes this less like a comic book and more like a primer for little gynecologists to be.
I realize that there is that fan boy base out there that likes this sort of thing, but why drag a perfectly good tough heroine like Witchblade into this pseudo porn atmosphere? The fight scenes are well paced and drawn. In the six pages I read I couldnt tell you what was going on, but it looked pretty. Well, except for the excessive heres my vagina mentality that runs rampant throughout what I got to see.
