CITY OF HEROES is based on a video game, right? Beats me I’ve never played it, but it does look like fun. The comic seems like it’s a lot of fun. This particular issue deals with two sets of heroes from two different dimensions. Except I get the idea that one of these sets of heroes aren’t exactly heroes. It reminds me a lot of the whole DC Comic thing with our Earth and then the Earth full of supervillians that are modeled after Superman and whatnot. So, while the idea may be far from original, the pages I got looked great and the story looked like it was having fun. I did like the concept of a nightclub catering to super heroes being located inside of a pocket dimension. Probably keeps damage control down if there’s a fight and you usually can’t rub a few heroes together without that happening.

The title of the book is ‘Ladies Night’ so we are focusing on the female heroes in this particular story. That’s fine by me. The artwork gives us the typical, perfect woman take and that isn’t so bad when you’re doing a story that is so hero-centric. I especially liked the cover with one of the heroines on a stripper pole. Very funny.

I hope that the book was meant to be so tongue in cheek because I thought it did that very well.

Now, I know that I’ll have to play the video game.
