I've reviewed a lot of books in my life, but this is one that really set me
off. Alecto, one of the Greek Furies, goddess of constant anger is traveling
America, passing herself off as human. Why she has gotten here is what got to
me. In this story the Greek gods have been butchered by God (Jehovah, Yahweh),
who has sent his Black Angels to Olympus. After slaughtering all of the Gods
there, they moved through the entire pantheon of mythology, killing the other
Gods.
For what it is worth, I respect others rights of Belief. You can believe in
whatever you want, makes no difference to me. However, attempting to turn God
into a cowardly murderer for no reason simply turns me off.
Don't misunderstand. The idea of a mythological Fury traveling the world exacting
justice on the evil people and punishing those who deserve it is an interesting
idea. Had they stuck with that one plot I might have better enjoyed the book.
As it is, it simply turned into something I have a hard time recommending to
anyone. Especially a Christian who reads Comics. And while I know I am in the
minority on this, just remember that sometimes the larger number is not always
right. There are just more of them.
