Review by Larry Stanley

Continuing the adventures of Doctor Phillip Solar's from Vol. One. After an experimental with nuclear power caused him to absorb a massive amount of atomic radiation, the scientist survived only to find that he had gained incredible powers over matter and energy.

Now, Solar must protect those around him to avoid exposing them to the same radiation that gives him with his amazing powers.

This archive collection reprints the next seven issues, #8-#14, of Gold Key's original Doctor Solar comic-book which gave birth to one of Comics most enduring characters. The art work by Frank Bolle is still as fresh and pure as it was over 40 years ago and should still be used by some 'modern' artists as a guide. Bolle created some of the most beautiful covers and his sequential art was and still is a joy to look at.

Paul S. Newman was one of the most prolific Comic writers of all time but his work on Doctor Solar had to be some of his best in my opinion. And since I am writing this review, my opinion counts. HA!!

Anyway, his stories were always intelligent as well as fun to read. And Dark Horse has really put some effort into this collection. The art is clear and reproduced with exceptional clarity. The text is easy to read and follow with few blurred or fuzzy words.

All in all, I give Dr. Solar Man of the Atom Vol. Two flying colors and can't hardly wait for Vol. Three. Hey, how about a "Herbie" and "Forbidden Worlds" Archives? That I would love to see someday.

Just a hint.
