When Zombies Attack !! #1 "Don't Shoot the Messenger" - Part One - Life in Burke County,USA, is a nightmare. The streets are alive with the walking dead, vampires and werewolves .Post Mortem Animation Control ( P.M.A.C.) Officers investigate and get rid of these paranormal delinquents .
The two main characters on this issue are P.M.A.C. Officer Frank and rookie Officer Chet. In this issue we see them fight, investigate and even run over -with their patrol car- zombies and werewolves walking the streets of Bark County. But When Zombies Attack !! #1 is not only about killing paranormal creatures, shooting , blood and bones it's also about Frank and Chet's personal lives and mistery : for some unknown reasons we see Chet approached in different occasions by talking zombies (are they really talking to him or is his imagination ?) We also see in a couple of occasions Chet killing zombies using some sort of mental power. We'll have to read the next issue to know how he gained that power and the reason why zombies are trying to approach him. When Zombies Attack !! is a very unique approach to the zombie - and paranormal creatures - genere. The story is charachter driven. The art follows the dialogue flawlessly and when needed, with appropriate use of high contrast black and white areas, it conveys perfectly the mood. The lettering is at times difficult to read, hopefully we'll see improvement in that department in the following issues. Score : 3 1/2 out of 5
Matt Rose and Chad Waters are makeup/creature effects artists who have been working in the entertainment industry for nearly 20 years. Credits include Hellboy, The Ring, Men in Black 1&2, Batman Forever, Beetlejuice, Aliens .
