Fear Agent #1: sci-fi, adventure , monsters, primates and dome-shaped glass helmets .
The protagonist of this series is Heath Huston: courageous, rugged, likes his whiskey . His monologues are filled with humorous remarks and comments. And he's the last Fear Agent,an Alien Exterminator with Earth's fate in his hands . In this issue we find Heath Huston on planet Frazterga fighting a group of Zlasfons - cave dwelling primates -guilty of stealing from the locals (Planetary Pilgrims) a large amount of terraforming equipment . That's an odd behavior for those low-intellect creatures; even odder is that they used the heisted equipment to build a space ship inside their cave . Inside the same cave Heath will find the mastermind behind this project and that will lead to an explosive confrontation. In his introduction to this issue Rick Remender wrote :" 'Fear Agent' is our attempt to return sci-fi to its proper place-- to do it the way we think Mr. Wood would have wanted it. We're here to tell big stories packed full of over-the-top monsters and high adventures where the stakes are as simple and primal as basic survival."
Remender and his co-stars succeeded : Fear Agent is clever, entertaining and magnificently illustrated...a joy to read. Fear Agent #1, published by Image, will be in stores October 26, 2005
