Gory Lori #1

Review by Larry Stanley

One of the better small press Zombie books I have see, Gory Lori is well written and well drawn with a story that impresses in its simplicity.
Lori is an attractive young lady with a big motorcycle, two guns, lots of bullets and she knows how to use them. Written by Joseph M. Monks and published by Chanting Monks Press we find not one but two decent stories, both written by Monks.
The first deals with Lori herself, a rather amply endowed biker babe riding across the Zombie infested land just trying to stay alive.
The second story is a short piece also dealing with Zombies called No Playtime for Amy. It is the story of a mother and father who try to fight off a Zombie attact while saving their little girl. The conversation in the story is mostly between Amy and her doll, and the ending really sucks the heart out of you. Dang, I hate you Joe Monks, for having this sort of talent, and my fiction sucks. Lol
Back to Lori's story, she stops off in a small town for supplies and finds not just beans and dead bodies, but also a teen age boy and Zombies galore. What does she do? What else, she saves the day.
I found the action to be well laid out and the art by Jeff Salisbury and Mike Koneful to be well done and easy to follow and the cover by Daniel Horne is colorful, gross and gives you a perfect view of what the book will be like. Over all, this is a first class book.
It is what I have come to expect for Joe and as usual he did not let me down. I hope the book runs for more then two issues, as I would like to see more of this character. So Joe, keep working and print. God knows we need the entertainment in this world of Crisis's, Annihilations and massive mutant death. It is nice to see something fresh
