The future is so bright you might have to wear shades. At least in the universe of James Bolivar diGriz, also known as the Stainless Steel Rat. James is a nice young man who feels that he is supplying the population at large with excitement and even a small amount of education.

See, Jim is the galaxy's greatest interstellar thief and con artist. Actually, he is one of the last remaining criminals in a society that is pacified. They have total safety and boredom. As the Stainless Steel Rat, he moves in the corridors of humanity but goes around the corners furtively, living in the shadows and the corners.

In adventure after adventure, our favorite Rat has outfoxed the forces of the law, cutting a stylish path through the futures star systems while taking and holding the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of readers.

And Jim lives pretty well at this life. So well in fact that after he commits his latest crime he is pursued by the Special Corps, an elite team of police who chase after only the most dangerous of criminals. Captured, Jim is recruited as one of their agents.

It is on his first mission that he is bested and a deadly criminal escapes justice. Resorting to his own experience, he goes after the beautiful and murderous Angelina and becomes a rogue member of the Corps, but he soon realizes that catching her will be tough but turning her is almost impossible.
